NCMVCA/MAMCA Student Scholarships

The NCMVCA/MAMCA Annual Meeting Scholarship is for full-time students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at any Colleges or Universities represented in MAMCA states (PA, MD, DE, WV, VA, TN, NC, SC, GA). In addition, recent graduates, having completed their degree within 12 months prior to the conference are eligible to apply. While promoting greater student participation at the annual meeting, the scholarship also encourages scholarly mosquito control and vector biology research. Applicants must agree to provide a 15-minute oral presentation at the annual meeting on a relevant topic (i.e., vector biology, vector control, etc.).

Scholarships will consist of the cost of meeting registration and a $250 cash award to help defray the costs associated with attending the conference. The number of annual scholarship awards varies depending on available funding. The due date for applications is January 5th, 2018.

Email the completed application and a PDF of your presentation to me (bdbyrd@wcu.edu) by midnight on January 5th, 2018. If the PDF file is >10 mb, please provide a dropbox (or similar) link. A panel of external judges will review the presentations and abstracts to decide the winner(s). Faculty advisors (including myself) will not be members of the judging panel. Please construct your PowerPoint presentation in a clear and concise manner to assist the judges. Your final presentation (at the MAMCA/NCMVCA meeting) should not differ in content or specific results at the MAMCA/NCMVCA meeting. However, minor changes and updates are allowable. Dr. Stephanie Richards will finalize the annual meeting conference schedule shortly.

Please contact Dr. Brian Byrd (bdbyrd@wcu.edu) if you have questions or check the NCMVCA website at http://ncmvca.org/conference.html.
